Spalted Maple and Baltic Birch

Deceptively simple in from, this bowl was a challenge for me to create. None of my sculptural bowls are turned on a lathe. Each layer is cut separately and laminated together. This piece was difficult to create because the layers of birch are positioned at an angle, not in concentric horizontal rings as in most of my other bowls.
This bowl is in the home of a collector in Massachusetts.
